2021 HC CAMPAIGN
by Hidden City Philadelphia of CultureTrust
Hidden City combines a commitment to preservation/development news with thoughtful engagement with broader cultural and architectural debates. Your support keeps our content free of charge, uncluttered by ads, and fully independent.
As we celebrate our 10th year of publication, we are here to request your support once again.
By December 31, we must raise $30,000.
The first $20,000 in donations will be matched by NewsMatch. The total $50,000 will mean that Hidden City can continue to operate and even expand its unmatched coverage of Philadelphia's built environment. Hidden City operates entirely on independent fundraising and small grants.

In 2021, Hidden City’s writers;
- Broke the news of allegations again the Kenney administration manipulating the preservation process
- Explored the lasting impact of a corrupt city “architect in perpetuity”
- Made the case for a regional rail revival
- Discussed Philadelphia's historic role in publishing African-American comic books
- Retraced the underground railroad’s path from Maryland to Philadelphia
- Examined the decades-long push to require an African-American history course in Philadelphia's public schools
- And covered the struggle of healthcare workers in Philadelphia during the first year of the pandemic.
As Philadelphia faces rapid, sometimes reckless development, Hidden City’s role as preservation watchdog has become even more important. Hidden City combines a commitment to preservation/development news with thoughtful engagement with broader cultural and architectural debates, and a commitment to show Philadelphia as it truly is.
Your tax-deductible donation today means this work can expand in 2022.
We're counting on you to step up and support the Hidden City Daily, whether you love our articles about Philly history and city life or appreciate our role as a historic preservation watchdog.
Your tax-deductible donation means we can publish our critically important annual Lost Buildings survey.
To show our appreciation we are offering an exclusive selection of perks, including posters, SEPTA token earrings, and keychains.
There is so much yet to be discovered! We pledge to give you more architecture, more history, more photography, more preservation news, more trips inside places you’ve never been before in the coming year.
But we can only do it with the help of readers like you.
Give now, multiply your impact and help us do more in 2022!
In gratitude,
.
